We are a youth rugby club established in 2006, offering a year-round tackle rugby program for youth, middle school, and high school boys and girls.

Welcome to Fort Hunt Rugby!
Training/Play Update, 15 November 2020

1:00pm 15 November 2020:

VA Governor Northam has imposed new COVID-19 statewide measures which are in effect now.  For us, the part to concentrate on is the restriction to 25 persons, inside or outside.  The 25 total does not include athletes for outdoor activities.

The fall Rugby VA touch season is over, due to the inability to achieve less than 25 spectators.

Rugby VA has clarified, and rugby training is still permitted, as long as there are no more than 25 spectators, which includes coaches/volunteers.

Fort Hunt Rugby remains open for business, and we will train until further notice.  The Warriors (boys) are taining mid-week and Sunday evenings, and the Gators (girls) have suspended training for now.

The following remains in effect:

Registration is open.  ALL players must register before practicing, due to covid-19 requirements.  Players/Parents may visit a training session to see if this is a good fit, then must register if returning.

We are NOT training or playing any full-contact.  We are training only in touch, and playing ad hoc competitions in World Rugby Fit Touch.  Full covid precautions are in effect, and are enforced.

Only the Warriors are currently training.  Fields are difficult to come by, so dates/times are in flux.  If you're interested, contact me via phone or email, and we'll get you to the right place.

Location for training is West Potomac High School, 6500 Quander Road, Alexandria, VA 22307.

All players are encouraged to reach out to new players, interested existing players, and interested friends to bring new players into our program. We always need new great people to join our program.  Novices are welcome; we will teach you to play.  There are no tryouts--everyone is on the team, and every one plays.

Wear your mask, bring your own water, stay separate, and follow coach/staff instructions.

Right now we are offering a program of rugby for boys/girls HS (9th-12th grade), boys/girls MS (7th/8th), and girls youth (5th/6th) for 2020-2021.

The current fee for all levels is $100.  This is less than previous years’ fees, as we are unsure of what sort of rugby activities we may be able to deliver this year and next.  We may have to request additional fees at some point, depending on how things develop.  We will not exceed the $200 in fees that we charged in previous years.

All players also must register with USA Rugby/Rugby Virginia via the Sportlomo website.  If you have previously registered with USA Rugby, use those log-on credentials and simply renew as a Fort Hunt player.  If not previously registered, just create a new registration for your player(s).

Check this space and the Gators and Wariors pages on Facebook for updates.  The POC is John Dacey, 703-780-5859, 301-503-3377 (mobile), and rugby007@aol.com.

Come play rugby with us!

We are a youth rugby club established in 2006, offering a program of fall rugby developmental activities, an organized spring state-level and regional competition leading to possible national and regional all-star opportunities, and a summer recreational rugby 7s season for boys and girls high school (U-19) and girls middle school/youth (7th/8th grade, 5th/6th grade) players (no boys MS at this time).  We are the 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019 boys Virginia state high school champions, and are currently ranked the #7 in the US as a boys high school club program.  Our boys fresh/soph team is ranked #2 in the country...among state all-star teams.  Our girls team is the Virginia state champion runner-up in 2012, 2013, and again in 2014.

Our purpose is to introduce youth--and parents/supporters--to the lifetime sport of Rugby Union Football, an outstanding and immensely fun sport to play and to watch, which offers players improved strength, fitness, and coordination, and teaches discipline, decisionmaking, teamwork, comraderie, closely controlled and focused tackle contact, in an environment emphasizing fun, high-level competition, tradition, sportsmanship and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials.
Looking for Middle School Coaches: we have equipment and full structure/organization in place to support our own dedicated middle school teams for girls and boys, but we need coaches.  No experience necessary--we will teach you.  If you'd like to run 7th/8th grade boys or girls rugby, please contact us.

Fort Hunt Rugby, 2020-2021

With the changes at USA Rugby, national-level registration has moved to SportLomo, managed by Rugby Virginia.  This will serve as the USA Rugby/national rugby registration from now on.  Go to https://usarugby.sportsmanager.ie/maint.php to register--BUT NOT AT THIS TIME.  There are issues with insurance, so please do not register until instructed to do so.

As of 1 September 2020 it's a new rugby year, and everyone must register with USA Rugby via Sportlomo.  This is an annual requirement.

ALL players must register with USA Rugby via Sportlomo. This is a mandatory annual online registration, and is valid every year until 31 August.  If you don't register you cannot train and will not play in any scrimmage or match.

Make sure you sign up for Fort Hunt Rugby.

Club Registration:

Registration is not currently open, and will not open until we have a viable product to offer to players and families.

This is a mandatory registration with Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association, and with our club.

Click the "REGISTER NOW" link at the top of this page to register for Fort Hunt Rugby.  This is a club registration--in addition to USA Rugby registration--and is mandatory.  You cannot play with our club unless you are a member in good standing.

Players who need assistance with registration fees do have to pay the full registration amount, but must pay a minimum of $20  per month to be a member in good standing with the club, and to be eligible to train and play in matches.  Contact Coach Dacey (below) for specifics, and to arrange payment.
